I know and love far too many great people who have been solemnly handed a crisply folded Stars and Stripes as a poor acknowledgment of a Brave Life given as a last full measure of devotion to their country.
Far far too many.
Meanwhile, far too many free and safe Americans will drink and eat their way through this weekend without remotely realizing or appreciating the REAL reason for this solemn observance.
THAT is the greatest tragedy.
The sad fact is, we send our fighting Force into battle with the direction and limitation of political leadership that truly has no clue as to what they are doing… They are feckless and inept.
As a result of political pollution, the greatest of our generation are being brought back in flag draped boxes to sorrow filled with few around to comfort them because America is NOT at war, America is at the mall.
Those of the Fighting Force that return alive and whole to the United States return to politically asinine bickering over bathrooms for moment by moment gender selecting America haters or black lives matter racists claiming superiority, or even muslims invading our great land from within…
The returning Soldier remembers their lost Brothers and Sisters… living and well and fighting bravely beside them and so suddenly then, Under flag draped coffins… They remember a country that is very nearly lost. They do not recognize this country for whom they gave so much.
Are you worth Karen R. Vaughn‘s and Billy Vaughn’s Sacrifice of Aaron Carson Vaughn?
Are you worth Phouthasith Douangdara‘s Sacrifice of John ” Jet Li ” Douangdara?
Are you worth Betty Lou Workman’s Sacrifice of Jason Workman?
Are you worth Debbie Lee‘s Sacrifice of Marc Alan Lee?
Are you worth Susan Price‘s Sacrifice of Aaron Kenefick?
Are you worth Charles Strange‘s Sacrifice of Michael Strange?
So many more…. So many families that have given so much, literally thousands of families for whom WE should be fighting for America… Names you will never know, but that their families will never forget…
The sounding of TAPS… It no longer evokes the solemn respect of young and old, except those that truly and fully realize its meaning in every moment of every day… For THEIR Soldier, THEIR Sacrifice that gave all.
Are you worth THEIR Sacrifice?
Today and every day, BE worth it. Strive to BE worth it. Memorial Day. For REAL.
